Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder in Launchpad, and select All Processes on the drop-down menu at the top of the window. Select the process(es) associated with Ultralingua Spanish-English Dictionary 7.1.7 in the list, click Quit Process icon in the left corner of the window, and click Quit in the pop-up dialog box (if that doesn’t work, then try Force Quit).

In addition to UL's unwillingness to include a truly comprehensive dictionary, they employ a nasty practice on upgrades. Previewing version 6 is a one-way street. It completely wipes out your version 5 install with no way to recover. They do not warn you of this practice. I was fortunate enough not to have any customized libraries. However, if I did, this would be a disaster.
